Begin jaren '20 van de twintigste eeuw was het Wachttoren Genootschap er van overtuigd dat de wereld in 1925 zou eindigen. Een enorme campagne onder de naam "Millioenen nu levende menschen zullen nimmer sterven" werd opgezet om dit "goede nieuws" bekend te maken. Naast de brochure met dezelfde naam als de campagne, waarin dit luid verkondigd werd, zetten de Wachttoren leiders hun ideeën over "het paradijs" verder uiteen in het boek "The Way to Paradise", uitgegeven in 1924. Nu het paradijs zo dicht voor de deur stond, liet men de fantasie de vrije loop.
1. Oud "goed nieuws"
Hoewel het Wachttoren Genootschap tegenwoordig weet te melden dat de "Millioenen" brochure "juweeltjes van waarheid" bevatte[1], en dat de veldttocht "enorme afmetingen" aannam, waarmee een "groot getuigenis" werd gegeven"[2], ziet de werkelijkheid over de inhoud van deze "Millioenen"- veldtocht en het toenmalige "goede nieuws" er echter iets anders uit dan het Genootschap nu wil doen voorkomen. Centraal in de Wachttoren-boodschap stond namelijk het "goede nieuws" dat in 1925 Gods koninkrijk op aarde gevestigd zou worden...
2. 1924 - Gods tijd voor onthulling van profetie
In 1924 publiceerde het Wachttoren Genootschap het boek "The Way to Paradise"[3], bedoeld als boek om ook kinderen het toenmalige "goede nieuws" dat het paradijs in 1925 zou komen in te prenten. Door enkel de bijbel te lezen konden ze Gods plan niet begrijpen, en daarom was dit boek als hulp geschreven:
You may be sure that the proper way to train a child is God's way. That you may thus train them, and as an aid to training themselves, you should provide them instructions upon God's Word. This knowledge they cannot acquire by merely reading the Bible. They must have some help to divide rightly the Word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15) This book is published to provide that much-needed help."

Zoals Joseph Rutherford op zijn typische wijze altijd claimde dat Wachttoren-inzichten van God afkomstig waren, kon de bijbel niet begrepen worden vóór Gods tijd, maar die tijd was nu gekomen. En ook de kinderen konden nu Gods plan begrijpen door middel van dit boek:
The Bible could not be understood until God's due time to have it understood. That due time is here now because the time has come to establish his government. Now it is possible for even the children to understand the divine plan as set forth in the Bible

In hoeverre het Wachttoren Genootschap Gods boodschap werkelijk begrepen had, kan worden geïllustreerd aan de hand van diverse passages uit "The Way to Paradise", waarbij met name hoofdstuk 11 duidelijkheid hierover verschaft.
3. "The Way to Paradise", Hoofdstuk XI — Princes in All the Earth
"Wanneer men met een meer gevorderde studie van de bijbel begint, zal men ontdekken dat het jaar 1925 A.D. in het bijzonder gekenmerkt is in profetie....", is het inzicht dat het boek verschaft. En, we zouden, daarom, kort na 1925 de opstanding kunnen verwachten van Abel, Enoch , Noach, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob en vele anderen die in Hebreeën 11 genoemd worden...

4. Maar het einde kwam niet in 1925
Jarenlang heeft het Wachttoren Genootschap een ander "goed nieuws" verkondigd, namelijk dat het einde van de wereld zou komen in 1925, en dat bijbelse figuren zouden worden opgewekt. Mensen die geliefden verloren hadden werd de belofte in het vooruitzicht gesteld dat ze deze snel weer zouden zien. Zoals ook in 1914 gebeurde, kwam het einde niet...
Hadden de "ernstige bijbelonderzoekers", zoals Jehovah's Getuigen destijds bekend stonden, werkelijk de bijbel begrepen? Was dit werkelijk gezond "geestelijk voedsel te rechter tijd"?
"Behoort u tot degenen die "de Vader zoekt"? Hebt u het vurige verlangen God in waarheid te aanbidden? Dan is de waarschuwing van de apostel Paulus in Kolossenzen 2:8 bijzonder passend: "Past op dat niemand u bedriegt met zijn gefilosofeer, met lege fantasieën die aan menselijke overleveringen zijn ontleend..."
